This logo is a parody of the original BP logo. As an oil spill was caused by the BP company in an agriculturally rich body of water, it signifies the harm caused towards all of the wildlife in the water. The logo uses two basic colours which is green and black. In a way, the green and black can be contrasted and compared to good and bad. The green would represent nature, while the black
would represent that bad oil that is destroying the environment. The bird in the logo is used to symbolize another aspect of nature and to show that not only is the environment being affected, but the wildlife as well.
2. Why did the graphic artist use such imagery?
The artist of this image chose to display a bird covered in oil, emerging, from waters that have been turned black due to the immense amounts of oil BP unintentionally polluted. This is the foreground of the original BP flower. This is ironic as flowers are signs of beauty and tranquility, which is the opposite of what BP has caused in the oil spill. The graphic artist definitely chose appropriate symbols and imagery for this logo because it uses irony, as well as a good message to the viewers.
3. What does this logo say of BP's coroporate identity?
This logo says a lot about BP's corporate identity. The logo shows that many people are against BP and the great corruption that they have caused in the world. It makes it seem as though BP has no care for the environment and the community. It also shows that BP has become a company that is destroying our environment and the health of our wildlife.
