Social networking sites are commonly used by many people today. In our generation, technology truly has developed to become a great part of our lives. The Internet is definitely a part of technology that is commonly used today and many rely on it for a source of research, homework help, entertainment and a way of socializing and keeping in touch with friends. It is unusual to find someone who has not joined at least one social networking site since socializing on the Internet has increasingly become popular in today's society. For example, many people my age (including myself) have joined at least three social networking sites which include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, etc.However, due to the fact that there are countless of people that use these sites nowadays, they are sometimes used for the wrong reasons. These sites do not discriminate between people, meaning that anyone can sign up and join and in more times than one, there are many online predators that could be found. It is important to know that when using these sites, you should always be aware of the many harmful things that could happen if your personal and private information were to be leaked since many predators online want this information so they can be accessed and abused.
Preventing unwanted information to be found is a must if you want to continue to use the Internet safely. This is also not completely hard to do. You should never reveal your address or phone number to anyone on the internet because even though you may think that only a certain number of people can see it, any kind of information can be accessed through the internet. This kind of information can later be abused and used for the wrong reasons. Browsing the internet can be very entertaining and fun as long as you use it safely.
